Are you raising money smart kids? In this 3-minute segment from my interview with Crystal Faulkner of the BusinessWise Radio show , I discuss the most important thing you can do to raise kids who grow up into financially savvy adults.
You don’t have to use a formal money curriculum to introduce your children to money management. Often the most profound lessons we can teach our kids about saving, spending, and giving are interwoven into everyday life. Kids learn more from what parents do than what they say. If you are telling your kids that saving money is important, yet you have to take out a cash advance on your credit card to pay for emergency car repairs, the lesson will go in one ear and out the other. This means they will imitate your money habits, so make sure they are good ones!
Talk with your kids in age-appropriate ways about your choices with money. You’ll help them build a solid foundation for money management which will support them into adulthood. For more ideas on talking to your kids about money, check out my Teachable Money Moments for Kids podcast.
