I’m a big fan of financial vision boards, both traditional and digital. In fact, it’s a homework assignment that I give to all of my coaching clients. Why? Because visualizing your dreams and goals helps to keep you motivated to do the hard work of becoming financially healthy.
But why not amp up your biggest goals by making them three-dimensional? 3-D representations of your dreams make them even more believable! For example, I am writing my book, “Money is Emotional: Prevent Your Heart from Hijacking Your Wallet.” When I settled on the title, I mocked up a cover, printed it out, and taped it to another book from my bookshelf. I did this because it made my dream of writing and publishing this book seem more believable. It motivated me to do the hard work of writing and editing it. (It should be available early in 2017!)
You can do this with other financial goals as well. Make a photocopy of your mortgage statement or credit card bill and write PAID IN FULL on it and hang it on your vision board. Dream of driving a BMW convertible? Find a mini replica like a Matchbox car and put it on your desk so you see it daily.
There’s a saying that goes like this: “If your mind can conceive it and believe it, you can achieve it!” But the flip side is also true: “If your mind can’t conceive it and you don’t believe it, you won’t achieve it!” So why not amp up your belief in yourself by adding three dimensions to some of your financial dreams and goals?
